Botnoi Internship Recap: EP.2 - Chatbots for Hotels

Previously on Episode 1 of Botnoi Internship Recap, our interns pulled out all the stops so far and created a chatbot for an online store from scratch. Amazing, right? But wait, there's more! In this episode, we’re going to tell you the epic tale of how our interns leveled up and developed a cutting-edge chatbot for the hotel industry. Prepare to be impressed, because the bot can take care of everything from booking to concierge services!

But first let us start with a disclaimer that this was not a completely new build, as our trainees had a chatbot previously crafted by the Botnoi team as a launching pad. By the way, if you work in the hotel industry and would like to have a little taste of this prototype that we prepared as a sample for our customers, hit us up!

Interns had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the work of the chatbot team, optimizing and personalizing the design to better meet customer needs, and explored how chatbots can solve problems for small hotel owners and make their lives easier.

Information Presentation

Our interns didn't just improve the chatbot, they equipped it with game-changing features. First, they collected all the information from booking websites and hotel pages and made sure it was all accessible in one place. They presented this information in different formats, such as Carousels, Flex messages, and compact Image Maps, making sure every detail is covered. This way, the chatbot can cater to the needs of every customer.

  • Hotel address: Got the right address? No more confusion with a unique Google Map link to guide guests directly to the hotel.

  • Amenities: Wondering if the rooms have a hairdryer? How about other amenities in the room? Now your guests will know for sure.

  • Nearby attractions: Curious about what's around? Just ask the chatbot to find out everything from convenience stores to tourist hotspots.

  • Occupancy conditions: How many people can stay? What are the check-in and check-out times?

  • Check-in/out: Need to know when you can check in or out? Want to see if service staff are available? This feature has got you covered.

  • Children and extra beds: Bringing kids? Want to know about extra fees? The bot answers these questions instantly.

  • Promotions: Highlight current deals to boost bookings.

  • Hotel contact channels: Display the hotel’s phone number and social media for easy contact.

  • Travel information: Get travel tips from the hotel or find out about parking and car rentals.

  • Accommodation details: Want a non-smoking room? Wondering if the hotel has a bar? Find details on room types, total number of rooms, voltage, and more.

With this comprehensive approach, our interns reimagined the hotel chatbot to assist guests with everything they need, making their stay smooth and enjoyable.

Reservation

Actually, the chatbot has the ability to help customers book a room. But since the hotel manages all reservations on their booking website (due to daily price changes), the team designed the chatbot to show detailed information about each room type by pulling data from Google Sheets (yes, you can edit Flex messages through Google Sheets).

If customers want more information, they can simply click the “Add Booking” button to get all the details. And voilà: bookings made easy with the chatbot!

Guest Service

Guests can request services directly through the chatline. For small hotels, this means they can reduce staff costs while still providing top-notch service. The chatbot can ask for important details so it can handle requests like contacting the front desk, housekeeping, reporting issues, and more. This on-demand guest service helps hotel management receive notifications through Line Notify, making it super easy to stay on top of things.
